Samsung's Upcoming Note Flagship to be called Note 7 and Will Come with Dual-Edge Screen

A new report out of South Korea now claims that the Samsung's next flagship phablet will be called Galaxy Note 7, instead of Galaxy Note 6 as expected.

The main logic behind this seems to be that Samsung wants their flagship smartphone names to be consistent. Samsung may want all of its flagships released in the same year to have the same number. For example, in 2016 we'll have the S7, S7 edge, and Note 7 so as to avoid any chance of customers thinking that Galaxy note 6 is last generation while Galaxy S7 is latest. It might also be an attempt to compete with the upcoming iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus

The report also states that the new Note will come with a dual-edge screen, so we won't see a Galaxy S7 edge+ launching alongside it like what happened last year with the Note5 and S6 edge+. Furthermore, the Note 7 will also have curved glass on its back, just like its predecessor (which is pictured above).

Samsung will reportedly release the Note 7 in early or mid-August - either way, it will become available before August 20. The launch date is thus pushed forward once more, presumably to let the phone be on the market for more time before Apple releases its new devices.
