Galaxy Note 7 Goes Official With Iris Scanner And Water Resistant Body

Samsung has officially launched its latest flagship smartphone, the Galaxy Note 7. The Galaxy Note 7 a major leap in the Galaxy note series a it is the first Galaxy Note device with an Edge display that curves on both sides, and also the first to have a water-resistant body, USB Type-C and an iris scanner. It looks more like a Galaxy S7 Edge with a bigger screen and a Stylus pen.

Talking about its features, the addition of a USB Type-C is quite the upgrade Galaxy Note fans have been clamoring for.
Also on-board is an iris scanner for enhanced security and for quick payments through Samsung Pay. The Galaxy Note 7 is also IP68 certified meaning that is both water and dust resistant. It can resist water upto a depth of 1m and the S Pen will work even when the screen is wet.
The Galaxy Note 7 has a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display of QHD resolution which seems to be the sweet spot for Samsung as they have used it for three generation of Note series. The display is covered by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on top for damage protection. As usual with Samsung, there is two versions of the Galaxy Note 7, one with either  an octa-core Exynos 8890 processor or a quad-core Snapdragon 820, depending on market. There is 4GB of RAM in combination of 64GB of expandable storage. The Galaxy Note 7 is also the first Samsung device to come with 64GB of internal storage out of the box, with the microSD slot making a return after it went missing on the Galaxy Note 5.

In the camera department, the Galaxy Note 7 uses the same cameras as the Galaxy S7 lineup – a 12-megapixel camera with Dual Pixel autofocus and f/1.7 aperture at the back, and a 5-megapixel camera with f/1.7 aperture at the front. The device runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of a box with a visually updated version of TouchWiz, and Android Nougat is likely to arrive sometime later this year or in early 2017.
The Galaxy Note 7 comes with a 3,500 mAh battery which is considerably bigger than the Galaxy Note 5′s, and given the positive battery performance of Samsungs Note series, we should expect an excellent battery performance from the Note 7. There is also support for Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 as well as wireless charging.

The Note 7 will go on sale in select markets on August 19th in Blue Coral, Gold Platinum, Silver Titanium and Black Onyx color options.
